Reflection Wk 2

What did I learn and how can I use it in the future?

This weeks work with spreadsheet was a challenge. I have always had a slight fear of excel spreadsheets and this process allowed me to learn and begin to feel some level of comfort with the process. I still feel that I have a lot to learn about spreadsheets and utilizing them as a teacher. I have always felt that it takes me more time to set up a spreadsheet and get it ready to use than it is worth. I now feel that I have gained some skills and feel more likely to use it in the classroom. I do like the information that it can show and the potential to provide a teacher with data that can shape and direct what needs to be re-taught.

I am not sure that I will use a spreadsheet tomorrow at work, but I do see myself spending more time researching and practicing so that I can utilize this tool in my classroom in the future.

Week 1 Reflection

This first week of class has made me very interested to see what I will learn throughout this semester in this class. I feel that technology is a very valuable tool in the classroom - both in engaging our students and providing best practice in our classrooms.   The survey tool on google is a good tool that would be an easy way to integrate technology into the classroom and engage students in the classroom or as a homework assignment.  I also greatly benefited  from the video posted on blackboard with the professor explaining and demonstrating how to create a survey on google, this made the assignment an easy task.  I also enjoyed the article on "Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants." I think it is important to understand the age of technology in which students have been raised and live in. I am only 27 years old, but technology was not as large of a part of my life as a elementary or middle school student. I now have to adapt to "digital natives" or my students and utilize technology to engage and teach. I look forward to learning more about how I can utilize technology in the classroom. I look forward to gaining more resources and skills to utlize technology in the classroom.
